Is the meat at Al Taza halal?

All meat used at Al Taza is 100% halal and prepared in accordance with halal standards.

Preparation

How is the meat prepared before reaching the outlets?

The meat is prepared after rigorous checking of the quality of meat we’ve received from our vendors. The meat is then further checked by our team. After this the chicken is washed using RO water, cleaned, and cut for marination. We use natural spices with zero preservatives and additives to make our marinade. The meat is marinated in a vacuum tumbler to ensure even marination and enhanced flavour.

Vegetarian

Is there cross-contamination between veg and non-veg food?

All aspects of food preparation, including cooking areas, staff, and utensils, are strictly segregated for vegetarian and non-vegetarian items. Dedicated utensils are used for vegetarian and non-vegetarian items, with cutting boards and knives colour-coded to avoid confusion. Breads and buns are coded white, utensils for non-vegetarian items are coded yellow, and those for vegetarian items are coded green.

However, despite these precautions, cross-contamination cannot be fully ruled out. French fries are commonly prepared and used for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Additionally, the toaster used for toasting both types of shawarma is shared.

Shawarmas

Can I customise my order?

Yes, absolutely! We can customise your shawarmas exactly the way you want. Whether it’s swapping out the mayonnaise, skipping the fries, or adding cheese, we do it all. We offer diversity in and within our dishes to make them suitable for each and every one of our customers.

Vegetarian

Do you have vegetarian options?

Yes! We offer a wide range of vegetarian dishes, including falafel rolls, paneer rolls, soya shawarmas, and veg rolls. All our vegetarian items use freshly prepared mayonnaise made from pasteurised eggs. Please note that we use egg-based mayonnaise in our vegetarian shawarmas. Swapping mayonnaise out for hummus makes it a completely vegetarian option. However, we cannot fully rule out cross-contamination between our vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. 

Vegan

Do you have vegan options?

We have limited vegan options. Our veg rolls, falafel rolls, and soya shawarmas can be customised into vegan options by swapping mayonnaise for hummus. Plate options are also available for falafel and soya shawarmas.

Our full meat shawarma contains 100 grams of chicken, and our Special Jumbo shawarma contains 160 grams of chicken.

At Al Taza we implement a strict “Don’t cook sick” policy. Regular staff health check-ups are put into place. We prioritise hygiene etiquette while dealing with food and have structured internal reporting channels specifically to report any illnesses.

Are the sauces and dips freshly prepared?

Our sauces and dips are freshly prepared in adherence to food safety standards. In addition, strict precautions and proactive measures are taken to ensure they are made using fresh ingredients and stored properly.

Is the chicken used safe ?

We do not compromise on the quality of chicken in the name of cost-cutting. We use export-quality chicken from FSSAI-approved vendors, where third-party audits are conducted strictly.

Beyond this, our team also double-checks the quality by sending the chicken to external laboratories that are NABL-accredited. Storing and transportation of chicken is done in cold rooms and temperature-controlled vehicles, respectively, at a temperature below 4 degrees Celsius.

Furthermore, inspection is done by our team, who check whether the packets are intact and do extensive physical analysis before receiving the chicken from the vendors. The chicken is then again checked before the marination process. The chicken we use is extremely safe.

How is the marinated chicken stored?

The chicken is washed and marinated in the early hours of the day. The marination is done in vacuum tumblers to ensure even marination and enhanced flavour. The marinated meat is then attached to the skewer and wrapped using cling film, making it ready for transportation from the central kitchen to all outlets. It is stored at a temperature of 4 degrees Celsius in order to make sure the chicken is safe for consumption.

 High-grade spices, sorted and graded by our chefs, are used for marinating the chicken. These spices are carefully chosen and ground by us to maintain the quality of the spices and bring you elevated flavours in every bite. There are no preservatives or additives present in our spices.

Additionally, samples are further checked by our team through accredited external laboratories, where both chemical and biological analyses are conducted. Only after all test results meet required safety standards is the chicken approved for processing.

It is the best way to maintain a calorie deficit without compromising on taste.
